"My experience at GTP began in March 2013, when I was introduced to a wonderful Nurse, Mother and great instructor, Chantelle White. Ms.White is the CEO and instrutor of Gentle Touch Phlebotomy Education. Upon entering the phlebotomy class i knew nothing about drawing blood but it ended up being one of the best experences in my life. Ms.White taught me everything from the basic set up to the most important things there is to know about being a phlebotomist. I can truly say I have learned a lot since I completed the program at GTP. I've been blessed with several opportunities. Shortly after clinicals I was hired at Beaumont Hospital in the Hematology/Oncology department it was a wonderful experience. Five months later i was offered my current position which I really wanted to do and that is working with children at the DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan. I love it here, at first I was a little nervous about drawing blood on infants, but after awhile it just became second nature to me. Most recently, I was just offered a position working for the State of Michigan's Federal prision as a Phlebotomist. I give all my thanks to my instructor Ms.White, who has always told everyone in the class "we can do this" even when some people wanted to give up, she would slow down rewind until we understood everything she was explaining. I have to admit that on my first day, I was a bit intimated coming in as a 19 year old with absolutely no clinical experience but by the end of the first two weeks, before I knew it, I was doing blood draws as if I did it on the daily basis.
